Confirmation Class 2018:

10 @ 10

We had great fun completing the 10 @ 10 in conjunction with ‘Operation Transformation’. We have been working really hard this year on our fitness and healthy eating. We are aiming to get our Active Flag this year.

The School received 16 tablets on loan from Clare Education Centre for 2 weeks. We really enjoyed using them in class and we tried a wide variety of apps in each subject.

Rain Gauge:

We started recording the weather on 22nd January. We made a rain gauge from an empty water bottle. For one week we measured the rainfall , temperature, wind direction and wind force. We also learnt about the different types of weather and the effects is has on the earth.

New Books:

We are thrilled with all the new books we got from our Book Fair. We have lots to keep us Busy Bookworms going!

Science Week 2017:

We did a wide variety of experiments for science week this year. We learnt all about making circuits, solar powered boats, using potatoes to make stopwatches work and also how bacteria can spread if we don’t wash our hands properly.

‘Cinderella’ in UCH

We had such a fun day going to see ‘Cinderella’ in the University Concert Hall. Our seats were so close to the stage. Thank you to Ms. McLoughlin for organising a fantastic trip. We loved it.

Clare FM:

Ger Sweeney spoke to the girls about their memories and family traditions at Christmas. Ger is doing a piece on ‘Christmas through the ages’ and he was thrilled with what the girls had to say. Listen out on Clare FM from 4th December to hear all the stories!

Bingo Fundraiser:

Shoebox Appeal:

82 shoeboxes were collected in the school as part of Team Hope Appeal. Thank you to all who have so generously.

Camogie Training:

We have had great fun with David Carroll over the past number of weeks learning lots of new skills in  Camogie. David has really challenged us to work hard and we definitely feel we have improved. We are looking forward to putting these skills into practice when Cumann na  mBunscoil begins in the New Year.

Garda Helicopter:

We were so excited to be invited by Garda Hilda to see the Garda helicopter land in Smith O’Briens last week. It was amazing to see it land and take off and we were able to ask the pilot lots of questions about it. Thank you Garda Hilda.

Project on European Countries:

5th & 6th class had great fun learning about different European Countries this term.  The pupils were divided into groups and presented a poster and a PowerPoint presentation to the class. Their presentations were excellent and we all really enjoyed listening to them.
